Open Studio and Carey Ellis Exhibition Opening Reception

Annual Open Studio, when SA/VS welcomes the public to explore studios and galleries in the Art and Visual Studies Building.

Event includes the Carey Ellis Exhibition opening reception, a juried exhibition which awards scholarships to student artists. This year's juror is Travis Townsend.

Travis Townsend draws, builds, rebuilds, paints, and tinkers upon wood and mixed media sculptures in his Lexington studio. His process-oriented works evolve from sketches and travel through many transformations before being cut apart, reassembled, and reworked (sometimes many years later). Parts are often transplanted or recycled.
