Lee Ann Paynter is an artist, an activist and an educator. She received her MFA in Photography and Media from California Institute of the Arts in 2011, and is a Lecturer in the School of Art and Visual Studies. Her oeuvre consists of traditional methods of photography, digital media, video installation, social engagement and interventions.
Paynter’s work takes on social and political issues examining the ideas and agency around intolerance and acceptance, particularly focused on inequality, liminal space and relation to the other. Committed to social justice issues, she has both an active socially engaged practice and an active exhibition schedule. Lee Ann’s work has been exhibited regionally and nationally.
