Four College of Fine Arts Faculty Graduate from Inaugural Emerging Leaders Academy through UK Office of Faculty Advancement

Congratulations to Bobby Scroggins, Jason Dovel, Jonathan McFadden, and Martina Vasil, who spent the past academic year cultivating their leadership potential through self-reflection, skills-building workshops, mentorship, and a capstone project designed to make an immediate impact within the university community.

The College of Fine Arts celebrates four of our faculty members who recently completed the inaugural cohort of the Emerging Leaders Academy (ELA), a yearlong professional development program launched in Fall 2024 by the Office for Faculty Advancement.

Congratulations to the School of Art and Visual Studies professors Bobby Scroggins and Jonathan McFadden, and School of Music associate professors Jason Dovel and Martina Vasil. "These faculty members spent the last year on a journey of discovery and enlightenment about their leadership skills and potential to serve in critical roles in higher education," said Mark Shanda, Dean of the College of Fine Arts. "Each was tasked with a creative project that could feature aspects of their learning and their near term impact."

The ELA was developed to support mid-career faculty and professional staff with demonstrated leadership potential. Participants explore the foundations of effective institutional leadership while gaining insights into their personal strengths and long-term career goals.

Each participant completed a creative capstone project, serving as a culmination of their experience and a platform to apply what they learned to real-world challenges. The next time you see one of these faculty leaders, ask them about their project and how the program shaped their approach to leadership in higher education.
