Timothy Moyers is an electroacoustic composer, sound designer, and audiovisual artist originally from Chicago. He received a Ph.D. in Electroacoustic Composition & Sound Design from the University of Birmingham (England), an MM in New Media Technology from Northern Illinois University, and a BA in Jazz Performance/BA in Philosophy from North Central College. 

His current research focuses on modular synthesis, sound spatialization, data sonification, procedural 3D animation, audiovisual composition and sound design, creative programming, and field recording. 

Prior to joining the University of Kentucky, Timothy was an Assistant Professor in the Department of Human Centered Design at IIIT-D (Indraprastha Institute of Information Technology), Delhi, India where he was the Founder & Director of ILIAD, Interdisciplinary Lab for Interactive Audiovisual Development In 2018, Timothy was recognized with an Outstanding Educator Award and a Teaching Excellence Award from IIIT-D.

Timothy’s compositions have been extensively performed and presented at national and international conferences and festivals including ICMC (International Computer Music Conference), SEAMUS (Society for Electro-acoustic Music in the United States), EMM (Electronic Music Midwest), NYCEMF (New York City Electroacoustic Music Festival),  SICMF (Seoul International Computer Music Festival), KLG (Kling Gut International Symposium on Sonic Art and Spatial Audio), Noise Floor (Experimental Sound and Moving Image Conference), WOCMAT (International Workshop on Computer Music and Audio Technology Conference), Diffrazioni Festival (Italy), Live Code Festival (Germany), Network Music Festival (UK), and Sonic Intermedia at the Ars Electronica Center (Austria). 

Timothy’s research is also published in the Computer Music Journal
