Lisa Osland is currently Professor of Saxophone and Director of Saxophone Ensembles at the University of Kentucky. Under her direction, the premiere UK Saxophone Quartet has been a two-time Downbeat Award winner in the Classical Chamber Music category. They have also performed at the International Saxophone Symposium in Washington D.C. and numerous North American Saxophone Alliance National Conferences.

A busy performer, her credits include appearances with such artists as Wynton Marsalis, Doc Severinsen, Ray Charles, Roberta Flack, Rosemary Clooney, Linda Ronstadt, Lou Rawls and countless others. Ms. Osland’s performances have taken her throughout North and South America as well as Western and Eastern Europe. She performs regularly with the Lexington Philharmonic Orchestra on saxophone, bass clarinet, clarinet and guest artist appearances.

The Osland Saxophone Quartet (OSQ), a Selmer Performing ensemble, is active in both concert and recording genres. The debut recording of OSQ, Kentucky Roastup, was hailed by the Saxophone Journalas “a great example of the century of music to come” and was featured on NPR’s nationally syndicated classical radio show Performance Today. Their latest recording is a 2-CD set titled Commission Impossible.  A masterful compilation, it spans ten years of music making by OSQ and documents the repertoire written for and commissioned by the Quartet.

In addition to teaching and performing, Ms. Osland is an active clinician and has appeared at several World Saxophone Congresses as well as innumerable regional and national saxophone and jazz conferences. She has also been a regular contributing writer for the Saxophone Journal.

Lisa received her Bachelor of Music in Music Education from the University of Massachusetts, where she studied with Lynn Klock, and her Master of Music in Performance and Literature from the Eastman School of Music, under the tutelage of Ramon Ricker. While at Eastman she received the coveted Performance Certificate and the prestigious Graduate Teaching Award. She has taught at the University of Maine, Georgetown College, Asbury College, and Centre College.
