Join the University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra on October 29th for a performance of Shostakovich’s Symphony No. 5, one of the great orchestral masterpieces of the 20th century, conducted by John Nardolillo.

John Nardolillo will also lead the orchestra in the "Suite from Frankenstein," by University of Kentucky Professor Emeritus Joseph Baber, who retires this year after more than fifty years on the faculty in the School of Music.

Assistant Conductor Merih Erdem Özden will lead the UKSO in the Kentucky premiere of Turkish composer Ahmed Adnan Saygun’s 1975 composition “Ayin Raksi” (Ritual Dance), a tone poem of Turkish melodies and dance rhythms.

The program will open with a performance of the John Adams classic of American minimalism, “Short Ride in a Fast Machine,” led by Assistant Conductor Sean Radermacher.

Children age 6 and older are welcome to attend UKSO concerts. UK Symphony Orchestra evening concerts are not appropriate for children under age 6 in an interest in maintaining a quiet and contemplative listening environment. Children who are not able to sit quietly through the performance may be asked to leave the concert hall. Children of all ages are welcome to attend UKSO school concerts.

Free Advance tickets for UK Students available exclusively through the SCFA Ticket Office, UK Student ID required - limit 1 per student. Free Advance tickets not available on day of show.
