Will Oldham (born December 24, 1970, in Louisville, Kentucky) is an American singer-songwriter, actor, and musician. Often associated with the "alt-country" genre, he has recorded under various names, including Palace, Palace Music, Palace Brothers, and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. While he collaborates with artists like David Pajo and his brothers Ned and Paul Oldham, he is primarily the creative force behind his music. Oldham has been part of musical projects like Amalgamated Sons of Rest, The Anomoanon, and Tortoise, releasing his first solo album in 1993. The Bonnie 'Prince' Billy name references figures like Bonnie Prince Charlie, Billy the Kid, and Nat King Cole. He has also appeared in films, including Matewan and Old Joy, and photographed the cover of the Slint album Spiderland.
