Will Oldham, singer/songwriter and Louisville native, is known by many names, but none more iconic than Bonnie "Prince" Billy. With a deeply personal and unconventional approach to music, he creates a world where intimacy, community, mystery, and spontaneity intertwine. Drawing from the rich traditions of vintage folk and country, Bonnie "Prince" Billy crafts songs that delve into the complexities of human nature—its joys, sorrows, and everything in between. His unique brilliance has earned him a place as one of the most influential and cherished voices in contemporary music, captivating listeners with every performance.

ABOUT BONNIE PRINCE BILLY:
Will Oldham (born December 24, 1970, in Louisville, Kentucky) is an American singer-songwriter, actor, and musician. Often associated with the "alt-country" genre, he has recorded under various names, including Palace, Palace Music, Palace Brothers, and Bonnie 'Prince' Billy. While he collaborates with artists like David Pajo and his brothers Ned and Paul Oldham, he is primarily the creative force behind his music. Oldham has been part of musical projects like Amalgamated Sons of Rest, The Anomoanon, and Tortoise, releasing his first solo album in 1993. The Bonnie 'Prince' Billy name references figures like Bonnie Prince Charlie, Billy the Kid, and Nat King Cole. He has also appeared in films, including Matewan and Old Joy, and photographed the cover of the Slint album Spiderland.
 
ABOUT THE JOHN JACOB NILES CENTER FOR AMERICAN MUSIC:
The John Jacob Niles Center for American Music at the University of Kentucky School of Music is a collaborative effort supported by the College of Fine Arts, the Appalachian Studies Program, and the University Libraries. Named after Kentucky folklorist John Jacob Niles, the Center focuses on American music research and performance, emphasizing southern Appalachian culture. Established by Dr. Ron Pen in 1997, the Center is housed in the Lucille C. Little Fine Arts Library and is funded by several endowments. It features the Niles Gallery, a 50-seat performance space, and the Niles Study Room for private research. Dr. James Revell Carr currently directs the Center.
