Dr. Scot Buzza is a graduate of Yale University, where he held simultaneous fellowships in both the School of Music and the Department of Slavic Languages and Linguistics, and of the University of Kentucky, where he earned his PhD in musicology with studies in the Venetian settecento. His primary research centers on the work of eighteenth-century composer Baldassare Galuppi, with a secondary research focus on twentieth-century American musical theatre.

Dr. Buzza is currently visiting professor of musicology at the University of Kentucky School of Music in the Division of Musicology and Ethnomusicology. Buzza is also the director of the Kentucky Institute of International Studies in Salzburg, Austria, where he has spent summers teaching and researching since 2009. Recent publications include articles for the Journal of Seventeenth-Century Music, the Dizionario enciclopedico universale della musica e dei musicisti, the New Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, and the A-R Music Anthology.
