When registering, please identify your group division using the chart below. Divisions are organized by playing level, compatible with the Suzuki system.
How to Enter
- Select Your Repertoire
- Choose a single piece or a movement from a larger work. Memorization is not required.
- Record your performance:
- The recording must be done in a single take with no editing.
- Ensure the camera clearly shows both your left hand and bow arm.
- Upload your video to any online platform (e.g., YouTube, Google Drive).
- Provide the video link on the registration form.
Competition Results & Performance Opportunities
Winners of each group division, along with selected students, will perform at the Viola Day Recital. Some may also be invited to participate in the masterclass. Competition results will be announced the day before the event.
Accompanists
UK Viola Day does not provide pianists. Winners performing in the recital must bring their own accompanists or contact Dr. Wu for recommendations.
DIVISIONS
Solo Division
- Group A, Pre-College, Suzuki Books 1 and 2
- Group B, Pre-College, Suzuki Books 3 through 4
- Group C, Pre-College, Suzuki Books 5 and above
- Group D, College Freshman and Sophomore
- Group E, College Junior and Senior
Ensemble Division
- Simply indicate that your ensemble will enter the competition, upload the video, and email Dr. Wu the link.
- Only one ensemble will be selected as the winner.
