Alex Mondragon is the Assistant Director of Bands/Assistant Director of Athletic Bands at the University of Kentucky. In this role, he assists with all facets of the UK Band program including the Wildcat Marching Band and UK Pep Band. He is the conductor of the UK Concert Band.

Mr. Mondragon holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Colorado and a Master of Music in Wind Conducting from The Ohio State University. He is currently completing his doctoral document to earn his Doctor of Musical Arts in Wind Band Conducting from the University of Illinois. At the University of Illinois, he served as a Graduate Teaching Assistant where he worked with the Marching Illini, Hoops Band, Volleyball Band, and served as the conductor of the Campus Band. Mondragon also guest conducted with all concert ensembles and served as a teaching assistant for all levels of undergraduate and graduate conducting courses. Prior to pursuing advanced degrees, he served as the Assistant Director of Bands at Fairview High School in Boulder, Colorado.

Mr. Mondragon is currently a member of the College Band Director’s National Association (CBDNA), the National Band Association (NBA), and is a proud honorary member of Kappa Kappa Psi and Tau Beta Sigma.
