Nicoletta Moss
Associate Director of Orchestras
Dr. Nicoletta Moss is a Greek-American conductor recognized for expressive artistry, innovative community music-making, and advocacy for lifelong musicianship. Dr. Moss is the Associate Director of Orchestras at the University of Kentucky. In this role, Dr. Moss conducts the University of Kentucky Philharmonia and the University of Kentucky Medical Orchestra, teaches various undergraduate and graduate music courses, and strengthens partnerships with K-12 music educators and students across the state. Throughout the year, Moss also serves as the Assistant Conductor and Chair of Education for the Wintergreen Music Festival.
Dr. Moss earned a Doctor of Musical Arts in Orchestral Conducting from the University of Kentucky, Master of Music in Instrumental Conducting from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from James Madison University. Previously, Moss worked with organizations in the Washington, D.C. area, including the Alexandria Symphony Orchestra, Levine School of Music, and Takoma Mandoleers. Moss has conducted orchestras across the United States and internationally, including the Omaha Symphony, Cleveland Pops Orchestra, Denver Philharmonic, Wintergreen Music Festival Orchestra, Symphony Tacoma/Cascade Conducting Orchestra, Athens (Greece) Philharmonia, and musicians from the Atlanta Symphony.
Moss is a co-founder of the National Association of Medical Orchestras and a member of the American String Teachers Association, College Orchestra Directors Association, College Music Society, and Classical Mandolin Society of America. Dr. Moss is passionate about creating welcoming communities where musicians of all backgrounds can collaborate, grow, and perform together.
