A Message from the Producer Dr. Everett McCorvey

Dear friends,

Welcome to our production of Rappahannock County. I have been involved in this project since 2024 and am delighted to have it presented on our stage for you all to experience.

This is the third installment in our Telling America’s Stories series, and I am proud of the work we have done producing two American operas in 2026, as our country celebrates its 250th anniversary, and I am excited to continue this project, using music to share our history, amplifying narratives that can be missed or are not accessible through other means; as Hans Christian Anderson reminded us, “where words fail, music speaks.”

I am delighted to welcome back stage director Richard Gammon, the creative mind behind our productions of Sweeney Todd, Silent Night, and more. Richard is a talented artist, teacher, and collaborator, and he has been working tirelessly with our students both to tell this story for you today, but also to develop their craft as artists so they are ready to take the great operatic stages after they leave UK.

As you consider your philanthropic wishes for our community, please remember UK Opera Theatre. The work we are doing is not only cutting edge, but it is also work that will further enhance the catalogue of American operas available to companies throughout the world. We hope that you will continue to support the work of UK Opera Theatre, and these amazing young artists we get to serve. We hope that you will enjoy this magnificent work.
