Arts Admin student earns grant for internship site

Arts Administration student Abby Hibbs earns significant grant for local music nonprofit.
Abby Hibbs completed her first internship with a pleasant surprise.

As part of her marketing and development internship with Central Music Academy in Lexington this spring, Abby submitted her first grant proposal to the Snowy Owl Foundation. She requested $5,000 to support CMA's Empowering Voices program, which provides 500 free, high-quality private music lessons to Lexington students who face financial barriers to arts education. Snowy Owl exceeded Abby's request, awarding the organization $6,000.

The grant will also help expand CMA's repertoire library with 30 new solo works and etude books by composers from various cultural and musical backgrounds. This initiative promotes greater access to music education and gives students the opportunity to grow artistically through diverse and personalized instruction.

"This grant has been such an exciting milestone for me, especially since it came through my very first internship with Central Music Academy," Abby said. "I'm thrilled to have contributed to something so meaningful."

Abby Hibbs is an arts administration senior with a minor in vocal performance.
