Dr. Julia Finch (she/her) received her Ph.D. in medieval art and architecture from the University of Pittsburgh in 2014. She currently serves as the Director of the Kentucky Chapter of the Sierra Club, the nation's oldest and largest grassroots environmental organization. Her research explores intersections of visuality, orality, and materiality in medieval and early modern Europe and the Mediterranean, as well as American folk art traditions and their environmental contexts. With a broad teaching portfolio spanning global art history, museum studies, and socially-engaged pedagogy, and experience in small museum leadership and community advocacy, Dr. Finch is committed to the public humanities, creative placemaking, and advancing visual literacy as a tool for civic engagement and critical inquiry.
