Mathias Mu (1991) is a multidisciplinary artist and researcher based in Antwerp (BE). In his practice, Mu embraces speculative world-building, neo-folklore, and technoromanticism in relation to nature. Mu creates objects, environments, interactive installations, and sound works. Using digital fabrication techniques like 3D printing and engaging with technological developments, his practice explores their potential for contemporary artistic expression. Driven by an interest in syncretic belief systems and symbolic narratives, Mu’s work dwells in a space between the organic and the artificial. In his research project Neo Seer: A Syncretic Animacy at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp, Mu explores artworks as active participants through interactive installation, challenging traditional viewer-object dynamics through material and technological experimentation.
