Christopher M. Montpetit is originally from Niagara Falls, NY, where he received a Bachelors of Arts Degree in English/Theater from Niagara University. He continued his studies at Columbia University in New York City, where he earned a Masters of Fine Arts Degree in Theater Management. Professionally, Mr. Montpetit has worked at such companies and institutions as Macmillan/McGraw-Hill Publishing, The Kathryn Bache Miller Theatre, The Alma Schapiro Theatre, Artpark Theatre, ABC Television, Showtime Networks Inc., and SummerTide Theatre. He recently served as Assistant Professor and Director of the MFA Program in Theatre Management at The University of Alabama.
Academically, Mr. Montpetit is currently Theatre/Production Manager for the University of Toledo Department of Theatre and Film, in addition to being an online adjunct instructor for the University of Kentucky and Genesee Community College. As a Course Content Developer, he has developed courses for the University of Toledo, The University of Alabama, and the University of Kentucky.
Mr. Montpetit is the author of What is Theatre? An Introduction to Theatre, published by Kendall Hunt Publishing in January 2016. He also serves as Management Editor for the online resource USITT Creative Teaching on the Web and as a reviewer for the Journal of Arts Management, Law and Society.
A member of the Association of Arts Administration Educators (AAAE), Mr. Montpetit recently served two terms as Vice Commissioner for Arts Management for the United States Institute for Theatre Technology Inc. (USITT), where he remains an active member.
