Laura Neese is a dance artist and educator from New York City.  Described as “ethereally romantic” by The Dance Enthusiast, Neese is a longtime company member of Bessie-nominated Darrah Carr Dance, and has performed works by artists including Carr, Melissa West, Sean Curran, Maho Ogawa, Chia Ying Kao, and Ann Carlson. Neese co-directed the NYC-based KitchenSink Collective from 2012-2016, and currently produces her own work through Laura Neese|Dance Projects. Neese’s choreography explores corporeal dualities: body as biomechanism and body as reservoir of story and socialization – embracing improvisation, play, and interaction between body and environment. As a Lecturer in Dance at the University of Kentucky, Neese teaches across the Dance Curriculum, coordinates the Dance Audio-Description Initiative, and runs the Berlin Dance Education Abroad Program.
