Singletary Center presents The Lexington Singers - Common Ground: An American Choral Celebration
The Lexington Singers, directed by Dr. Jefferson Johnson, return to the stage presenting a program that invites us to listen for the places where our stories intersect and to discover, through the power of the human voice, the common ground we share.
The first half of the program features two works by Leonard Bernstein—Selections from MASS and Chichester Psalms—that, despite their vastly different styles and settings, share a deep exploration of faith, doubt, and the search for connection and hope.
Echoing that reflection of resilience and community, Wes Ramsay and Timothy Sharp’s work Come Away to the Skies: A High Lonesome Mass draws its inspiration from the rich traditions of our beloved Appalachia and Southern gospel tunes and features the GrassCats as well as special guest Timothy Sharp on the banjo.
