For 2026, re:museum begins a new exhibition series focusing on the elements and principles of art (texture, balance, pattern, space, etc.). These core concepts will provide a framework to continue

offering the welcoming engagement with art that re:museum has embodied since its inception. The debut theme for this new chapter is “scale,” highlighting artworks that utilize size and proportion in significant ways. Artworks featured in the exhibition include Peter Berg’s scale model for an architectural installation at the Hudson River Museum, Avantika Bawa’s scaffolding miniatures, a selection of our collection’s tiniest works (magnifying glasses provided), and more.

In addition to the artwork on view, the exhibition also features insights into our institutional history and a behind-the-curtain look at museum operations. Of special note is an all-new interactive display of a 1970s-era maquette of the UK Art Museum’s galleries, used by curators to plan exhibitions along with scale models of artworks. If you’d like to incorporate re:museum into your curriculum, please contact Curator of Education Dan Solberg (dan.solberg@uky.edu).
