R.C. May Photography Lecture Series: Alec Soth
Alec Soth has a passion for photobooks, both as a maker and publisher. He has created over twenty-five books of his photographs to critical acclaim. Soth also manages Little Brown Mushroom, a multi-media publishing company that engages in visual storytelling across multiple platforms including YouTube, Instagram, and workshops at his home in Minneapolis.
Soth photographs people and landscapes of suburban and rural communities, often during road trips throughout the Midwest and the South. He is a member of Magnum Photos and has had more than fifty solo exhibitions at prestigious institutions including the Joslyn Art Museum, Omaha; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; Helmond Museum in the Netherlands; the Jeu de Paume, Paris; Shanghai Xiang Cheng Center of Photography; and Tokyo Photographic Art Museum.
