HOMETOWN: Ft. Mitchell, Kentucky
Tara-Lynne Skinner is a junior from Burlington, Kentucky! She is majoring in dance, minoring in vocal performance and is a musical theatre certificate candidate. Tara-Lynne attended Beechwood High school where she was a varsity cheerleader, varsity golfer, performer in the yearly musical, a member of the choir and a student council representative. Tara-Lynne also studied dance, voice and acting at a large local performing arts studio for 13 years where she was a member of the competition dance team and participated in many musicals. She has worked as a vocalist and dancer in the live shows at Coney Island Amusement Park (Cincinnati OH) and she will be in the ensemble in Pippin at the Warsaw Incline Public Theatre (Cincinnati OH) in the summer of 2019. Here at UK, Tara-Lynne has had many amazing opportunities within the College of Fine Arts. She has been able to perform in dance concerts in New York City, Detroit and locally in downtown Lexington in pieces choreographed by UK faculty. She also attended and performed in the American College Dance Association conference at The University of Mississippi and she has also been seen in Louder than Words and Accelerate dance concerts. Tara-Lynne was dance captain, Little Red and a Blind Mouse in Shrek the Musical and is excited to be a Kit Kat Club girl in Cabaret in the fall of 2019. Tara-Lynne is a member of the UK Women’s Choir and has performed at many campus events. Additionally, Tara-Lynne is a member of Delta Zeta and has represented her sorority in Greek Sing and Stomp. The arts are very important to Tara-Lynne because they have brought such joy to her life since she was a young child. She treasures all the experiences and the people she has met through the years and she can’t wait to assist prospective students #seeblue as an ambassador for the College of Fine Arts! C-A-T-S, Cats, Cats, Cats!!
REASON FOR BECOMING AN AMBASSADOR
I want to share my wonderful experiences being one of the first dance majors at UK. I have learned a great deal in a short period of time and felt welcomed and appreciated immediately by the students and faculty in the College of Fine Arts. I want to help prospective students learn more about our wonderful and growing department.
