Katie Simon

Katie is double majoring in dance and biology on the pre-medicine track. She has been dancing since the age of four, and began her training at Bluegrass Youth Ballet where she landed lead roles in their performances of The Nutcracker, The Little Mermaid, and The Sorcerer's Apprentice. Katie also danced with Allegro Dance Project, a local dance company that provides outreach dance classes to kids and students in Kentucky with special needs, and had the privilege of being able to volunteer and perform with them. She also attended the Governor's School for the Arts in 2015, alongside other summer dance programs with Louisville Ballet and Cincinnati Ballet. At the University of Kentucky, Katie has been a member of UK Dance Ensemble and Dance Concert. With Dance Concert, she has performed in their recent performance "Amplified," as well as "Louder than Words," where Katie was able to travel and perform in New York City with the choreography of Anthony Alterio. She also attended the American College Dance Association at the University of Mississippi this past year. Katie is an active member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority, where she has choreographed for several of their dance competitions such as Greek Sing and Home Run Derby the past few years. She is also a member of the Lewis Honors College, and will soon be inducted into the Order of Omega National Honors Leadership Society. In her free time Katie enjoys volunteering at the Ronald McDonald house, but also loves traveling, food, and concerts. Katie's passion for the arts only continues to grow at UK, she absolutely loves being able to show her love for the arts as they will always have a very special and important place in her life. As always, go cats and BBN!!!!!

The College of Fine Arts has provided me with such a safe space for learning and exploring within artistic fields. By giving me a larger platform and audience, I am excited to highlight the benefits and enticing programs that this school has to offer. I want to be able to share my passion for the arts and help this program grow!
