AESC-UK (Art Education Student Chapter) provides leadership, volunteer opportunities, professional career development and educational opportunities for art education students at the University of Kentucky. Our Members attend state and national conferences, meet regularly throughout the year, work to support each other and build artistic and creative connections with our community. The mission of the Art Education Student Chapter is to help prepare its members for careers in art education. AGSA (Art Graduate Students Association) organizes various MFA studio graduate student activities such as field trips to galleries and museums in the region and beyond. An annual Open Studio event organized by the group invites the whole Kentucky community to visit the studio building and learn more about the artworks and the people who make them.
Back Alley Press is a student organization designed for those interested in the printmaking medium. S.C.R.A.P. (Sculpture Student Club) is a membership organization for students interested in various production media, with a special interest in metal arts. The organization creates fundraisers and events, such as annual Iron Pour and traveling foundry, which enable the students to purchase equipment for the metal art facilities, to obtain funding for art trips and various 3D art conferences, and to bring in regional, national and international visiting artists. SLIP (Student League of Independent Potters) is a ceramic student organization that centers upon building a community of students passionate about ceramics. The student members meet monthy to plan activities and trips during the year. Pottery sales are organized during the SA/VS Open Studio event every December. Funds from the sale help fund students travel and attend the National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) annual conferences.
