Dr. Underwood will be speaking on The View From Here: Contemporary Perspectives from Senegal, the travelling exhibition which he organized for the OFF Program of the Dak’Art Biennale of Contemporary Art, and the Kent State School of Art Collection and Galleries. In addition to editing and writing the catalog for this exhibition in 2018, he has published articles in African Arts and World Art, and written a chapter for a forthcoming volume on Relocating Modernism: Global Metropolises, Modern Art and Exile. As part of his curatorial practice, he has contributed to exhibition projects at the Musée Boribana (Dakar, Senegal), the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, Iwalewahaus, of the University of Bayreuth, and the National Museum of African Art of the Smithsonian Institution.
