Kathleen West

INTERESTS: Flute/Piccolo, Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony and music therapy
HOMETOWN: Lexington, Kentucky

Kathleen is a junior at the University of Kentucky with a double major in music performance (flute) and psychology. She is considering careers in performance, music therapy, or music cognition. While at UK, she has participated in several ensembles, including Symphony Orchestra, Wind Symphony, Wildcat Marching Band and Pep Band, and a woodwind quintet. She is a member of Sigma Alpha Iota International Music Fraternity, in which she serves as Recording Secretary and Corresponding Secretary, as well as Service Chair and Music Chair. Kathleen also manages the UK Flute Studio Instagram page (@ukyflutestudio), where she posts about studio events and student accomplishments. Kathleen grew up in Lexington, KY, and has always been a UK fan! Her favorite UK sports to watch are football and basketball. Outside of flute performance, she loves playing piano and ukulele, drawing, everything Harry Potter, and dogs.


I love my major and I love being in the College of Fine Arts. My closest friends are from the college and I feel like I belong here. Through the guidance of the amazing faculty members, I have become a better musician and person, and I'd love to share my positive experiences with others.
