Lecturer in Voice and Opera
The University of Kentucky is seeking a Lecturer in Voice, to begin in Fall 2021. Primary responsibility will be to teach weekly applied voice to undergraduate and graduate performance and music education majors, as well as musical theatre certificate students; conduct weekly studio classes; instruct in song, opera literature, and music theatre repertoire, and engage in recruitment activities. Candidates will also be expected to participate in annual School of Music admissions auditions and end-of-semester jury exams, and collaborate with the voice faculty to provide an appropriate, well-rounded, and individualized performance curriculum. Possible secondary responsibilities in class voice, opera production, and/or other areas may be considered, depending on candidate’s expertise. Candidates with significant international/national professional experience in opera and musical theatre performance are especially encouraged to apply. All voice types considered – Tenor, Baritone or Bass preferred. All applicants should provide evidence of a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and equity, as well as excellence in teaching diverse student populations, including first‐generation college students.
The School of Music has 53 full-time faculty, with an enrollment of over 400 students. The School of Music offers baccalaureate, master’s, and doctoral degrees in music performance, music education, musicology/ethnomusicology, and theory/composition, as well as a master’s degree in music therapy.
