Wagner: Prelude to Lohengrin
Mozart: Coronation Mass
Prokofiev: music from Cinderella
Ravel: Daphnis and Chloé, Suite No. 2

The University of Kentucky Symphony Orchestra presents an evening filled with passion and fairy tale romances. The concert opens with Wagner’s representation of an angel embracing the sacred Holy Grail and letting its light and glory pour into our hearts on Earth. Glory continues with Mozart’s Coronation Mass written for commemoration of the Coronation of the miraculous Virgin of the Maria Plain sanctuary - its history that started with a painting that depicts “the miraculous image of the Virgin Mary“ that safely survived a baker’s fire, even though everything else around it was destroyed! Light follows in Cinderella and her Prince’s hearts in our selections of Prokofiev’s Cinderella - a classic fairy tale that gives you classic fairy tale feelings. The orchestra overfills your hearts at the end of the evening with Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloé, Suite No. 2. This music depicts the sunrise reunion of the shepherd Daphnis and the beautiful Chloé after Chloé was abducted by pirates!
