By request, this year we will have a "Build your own hosaphone trumpet" class as well as a hosaphone ensemble! We will build our own hosaphone "natural" trumpets out of simple tubing and funnels and play some introductory music on them.
Lip Cam Master Class
The "Lip Cam" is a special mouthpiece that allows you to see what happens inside the mouthpiece as you play. Dr. Jason Dovel will set up a Lip Cam interface for live demonstration, and students will be able to compare their live video to other videos from two years of student video archives at the University of Kentucky.
Ultrasound Research Presentation
In partnership with the UK Dept. of Linguistics, Dr. Marisa Youngs will present a live demonstration of her recent ultrasound research on trumpet playing
More Breakout Sessions
To keep our class sizes smaller and allow for more playing opportunities, in 2019 we will have even more breakout sessions: multiple simultaneous warm-up sessions, breakout topical master classes, more solo and orchestral opportunities, etc.
Junior Trumpet Camp
A new, separate, and parallel camp will be offered in the Fine Arts Building for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade trumpeters. This camp will focus on fundamentals for young students and offer more recreational/fun activities. Learn More
