Faculty Chamber Ensembles
When they're not teaching or researching, our music faculty are performing! Two faculty ensembles perform regularly and may be contacted for appearances at events. Select the ensemble below to learn more.
The UK Faculty Brass Quintet is the in-residence faculty brass quintet at the University of Kentucky. Comprised of the brass faculty and one graduate trumpet student, the ensemble has made appearances at national and international venues while also investing in regularly scheduled state and regional educational outreach performances. The UK brass faculty provides comprehensive study through private instruction, large and small ensemble experiences, chamber music, pedagogy and literature courses, and master classes on trumpet, horn, euphonium, trombone, and tuba.
The UK Early Music Collective consists of faculty from the string, keyboard, voice, brass, and percussion faculty. They perform music from the Renaissance and Baroque on period instruments in period tunings and temperaments and without a conductor. They recreate the sounds of earlier times with gut strings, valveless trumpets, harpsichord, organ, and other period instrument features. The ensemble recently presented a concert with prizewinning baroque violinist Augusta McKay Lodge in Fall 2019. For more information, contact Jason Dovel at Jason.Dovel@uky.edu
