Repurposing with Character: A CFA Costume Studio X UK Art Museum Crossover (In-person event)

10am - 5pm, presentation at 3pm

The UK College of Fine Arts Costume Studio will have a selection of pieces from their collection on display throughout the day, leading up to a presentation by Costume Studio faculty and staff at 3 PM on how they repurpose materials such as previously constructed costumes and purchased or donated clothing and accessories. 

Family Day: Sew Cool (In-person event)

Saturday, June 26, 2021 - 12:00pm

The artworks in Sew What are made of sewn, woven, and quilted materials. Family Day: Sew Cool will give participants the supplies to sew their own artistic creations. Using embroidery hoops, yarn, burlap, and plastic kid-safe sewing needles, participants will create their own stitched characters using either pre-made templates or their own original designs. Kids of all ages are welcome to participate with parent or guardian accompaniment.

Modern Band

Modern Band is a new school based music program that utilizes popular music as its central canon. Modern band teaches students to perform the music they know and love and to compose and improvise. Styles that are studied include rock, pop, reggae, hip-hop, rhythm & blues, electronic dance music, and other contemporary styles as they emerge.

Join us for this online training to learn more about how to use Modern Band in your school. K–12 teachers, administrators, community music leaders, supervisors, and music teacher educators are welcome.
