As UK Opera Theatre prepares for their production of Silent Night, student residents of the Creative Arts Living Learning Program will showcase their talents revolving around the ideas of war and peace.

Artist's Statement

When equal access is available to the entire society, social progress and collaboration can flourish. All too often, however, small contingencies of the populace seize and restrict these avenues of access for personal gain. Meanwhile, a growing segment of the population has been stripped of this accessibility, turning what could have been a keystone into a wedge.

A hands-on art experience at the UK School of Art and Visual Studies (SA/VS) for juniors and seniors, their parents and their teachers. Join us for a day of demonstrations and workshops in the Art and Visual Studies Building on Bolivar Street. The day of workshops will end with an optional group activity or campus tour.

Ashley Hunt is interested in how images, objects, maps, writing and performance can engage social ideas and actions, including those of social movements, daily life, the exercise of political power, and the disciplinary boundaries that separate our art worlds from the larger worlds in which they sit. His work looks to structures that allow people to accumulate power, and those which keep others from getting it, while learning from the ways people come to know, contribute to or resist these structures.
