Susanna Crum and Rodolfo Salgado Jr.: Visiting Artist Talk

Crum Handheld UtophiasAs a printmaker and interdisciplinary artist, Susanna Crum conducts research-based projects that investigate maps and printed ephemera as social artifacts at the intersection of past, present, and future. She received her MFA and MA in Printmaking with minors in Sculpture and Intermedia from the University of Iowa and her BFA from the College of Architecture, Art and Planning at Cornell University.

Adriane Little - Visiting Artist Series

Literature is riddled with dead or otherwise missing mothers. Virginia Woolf’s life and writing were partly, yet significantly guided by the death of her mother when Woolf was just 13-years-old. This loss reappears across her novels. As an artist, I am interested in studying both her writing and her as a woman who experienced this early and profound loss.

artist statement: There is something about me that makes me wonder about the imperceptible quality of stars in the noonday sun, what forces hold clouds up in the sky, and what arranges the sundry of the universe. This work is about the relationship of these and many other unknown things and a faith in their existence that is strong enough to try to visualize and recreate them. It is about working towards understanding in both a tangible physical way and a subtler spiritual one.

Open Studio 2017

Open Studio is an annual event organized by the Art Graduate Student Association of UK's School of Art & Visual Studies. Since 1993, the school has opened its doors to the community on the first Friday of December to showcase the work of the Master of Fine Arts candidates. During the event, the MFAs and BFAs have their studios open for viewing and there are various demonstrations on view throughout the building. The Carey Ellis juried student exhibition is a chance for students to not only show their artwork but receive scholarships for their hard work. Open Studio is also an opportunit
