Susanna Crum and Rodolfo Salgado Jr.: Visiting Artist Talk

Crum Handheld UtophiasAs a printmaker and interdisciplinary artist, Susanna Crum conducts research-based projects that investigate maps and printed ephemera as social artifacts at the intersection of past, present, and future. She received her MFA and MA in Printmaking with minors in Sculpture and Intermedia from the University of Iowa and her BFA from the College of Architecture, Art and Planning at Cornell University.

Open Studio 2017

Open Studio is an annual event organized by the Art Graduate Student Association of UK's School of Art & Visual Studies. Since 1993, the school has opened its doors to the community on the first Friday of December to showcase the work of the Master of Fine Arts candidates. During the event, the MFAs and BFAs have their studios open for viewing and there are various demonstrations on view throughout the building. The Carey Ellis juried student exhibition is a chance for students to not only show their artwork but receive scholarships for their hard work. Open Studio is also an opportunit

Iron Pour Mold-Making Workshops & Scratch Block Purchase

Before you can pour, artists need something to pour into! Throughout the week, faculty will be available to teach and guide mold-making for this year's iron pour.  Scratch blocks – premade blank molds that experts and amateurs alike can carve to create a 3D design ready for molten iron – will also be available for purchase during these workshops.  (No new molds can be created on Friday Nov. 3.)

Join UK for a week of exclusive events to celebrate the UK School of Art & Visual Studies Metal Arts Program Iron Pour. Attend exhibitions, workshops, and visiting artist lectures all dedicated to the art of metal. The week's events will start with mold-making workshops and visiting artist events, and culminate with the annual pour.

Furnace Burn In: 3pm - 4pm

In the rear gallery space, artist Eric Conrad mounts Get-Together, an exhibition of soft scupltures in varying scale.
