Multi-instrumentalist, multimedia director and composer “Finn the fiddler” has watched his career surge ever since the 2016 release of his 2-disc concept album Roots & Branches which debuted at #46 on the Folk DJ charts. Roots is a pure-drop disc of Irish trad and an homage to the music and musicians that first inspired Magill’s fiddling. The closing concert of the 2017-2018 season features one of Chile’s foremost guitar virtuosos.  Winner of multiple competitions in South America and Europe, Orellana has forged a multifaceted concertizing and recording career performing in more than thirty countries both as a soloist and as half of the Orellana-Orlandini GuitarDuo.

Italian guitarist and CU Boulder Professor of Guitar Nicolò Spera brings to his teaching and performing a unique synthesis of European and American traditions. Spera is also one of the few guitarists in the world to perform on a ten-string guitar, with which he has made captivating recordings of music by JS Bach and Maurice Ohana.

Come and hear why students from as far away as Chile, Mexico, and Puerto Rico come to UK to perfect their guitar skills. Together with some of Kentucky's formidable guitar talent, they will deliver an unforgettable concert of solo and ensemble music.

One of the most sought after guitarists of his generation, this young virtuoso recently took first prize at the Guitar Foundation of America’s International Concert Artist Competition. Come and hear why critics all over the world are raving about Jara's musical prowess. This is a not-to-miss concert, and will surely be the first of many visits by Jara to Kentucky.

Mexican-born guitarist Dieter Hennings arrived in Lexington eight years ago to direct the guitar program at UK. Hennings opens the season in style with a program centered around two monumental sets of variations on the ancient Iberian folksong La Folia de España.
