Virtual Family Day: Boxes and Belongings

Saturday, November 21, 2020 - 10:30am to 11:30am

This hour-long Zoom session will take participants on a virtual tour of the Art Museum, focusing on artwork that uses boxes, containers, and frames and talking about how artists use these simple shapes to tell stories and prompt us to look closer. Have paper and a writing utensil or other art supplies ready for a drawing activity! Kids of all ages are welcome to participate with parent or guardian permission.

Studio Season - Unstaged

The Studio Season goes online this year!

Un-Staged is this season’s curveball. Created specifically as a response to the unique situation of school this year, Un-Staged is designed to put your opinions and thoughts at the forefront. This virtual festival will be comprised of videos submitted by individuals or households and will feature 100% original works. Write a poem, monologue, or short play, choreograph a dance, film a skit, write and sing a song, or do something we haven’t even thought of.

Experience In Amateur Hour - A Senior Virtual Exhibition

We would like to announce the launch of the University of Kentucky School of Art and Visual Studies Digital Senior Exhibition “Experience in Amateur Hour.” This exhibition is a presentation of capstone research which began classrooms and studios and finished online via zoom meetings—with work completed in students' kitchens, bedrooms, and living rooms across the nation.

Open Studio and Carey Ellis Show 2019

University of Kentucky School of Art and Visual Studies will bring excitement to campus again this December with the university’s most popular visual arts event, Open Studio.Open Studio, which is free and open to the public, will run from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, in the Art and Visual Studies Building. 

This annual event showcases the talent of the university's students and celebrated art faculty. Studios of graduates and select undergraduates will be open with the young artists present to talk about their ongoing projects.

Visiting Artist Talk: Between Systems and Grounds

Between systems and grounds is an ongoing collaboration between composer Paula Matthusen and visual artist Olivia Valentine, drawing on a mutually developed practice combining textile construction and electronics in real-time.

The University of Kentucky Department of Theatre & Dance presents the Amplified Dance Concert.

The Department of Theatre and Dance presents its 9th Annual dance Concert, Amplified. Amplified offers an enticing program featuring new dance works in a variety of genres from dance faculty, guest artists, and a UK dance student. Each choreographic work uses movement to celebrate the art form, explore issues and topics, and ultimately bring people together through the power of dance.
