Experience In Amateur Hour - A Senior Virtual Exhibition

We would like to announce the launch of the University of Kentucky School of Art and Visual Studies Digital Senior Exhibition “Experience in Amateur Hour.” This exhibition is a presentation of capstone research which began classrooms and studios and finished online via zoom meetings—with work completed in students' kitchens, bedrooms, and living rooms across the nation.

Open Studio and Carey Ellis Show 2019

University of Kentucky School of Art and Visual Studies will bring excitement to campus again this December with the university’s most popular visual arts event, Open Studio.Open Studio, which is free and open to the public, will run from 6-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 6, in the Art and Visual Studies Building. 

This annual event showcases the talent of the university's students and celebrated art faculty. Studios of graduates and select undergraduates will be open with the young artists present to talk about their ongoing projects.

Visiting Artist Talk: Between Systems and Grounds

Between systems and grounds is an ongoing collaboration between composer Paula Matthusen and visual artist Olivia Valentine, drawing on a mutually developed practice combining textile construction and electronics in real-time.

Each choreographic work uses movement to celebrate the art form, explore issues and topics, and ultimately bring people together through the power of dance.

Artist Talk: Tony Tasset

Join artist Tony Tasset and UK Art Museum Director Stuart Horodner for a discussion of Tasset’s history of making sculptures based on common American experiences – like carving pumpkins and building snowmen – and using scale and materials in surprising ways.  Tasset’s 20 foot tall work, Mood Sculpture, was selected by the Student Center Art Committee last year, and will be installed on campus in the coming week.
