4.  I have a desktop or laptop that was purchased with CFA or UK funds.  Am I eligible for a second device purchased by Fine Arts?

  • The College of Fine Arts has a strict policy of one computer per person, to be purchased, supported, and maintained by the Fine Arts IT department.  A second device may not be purchased with Fine Arts funds.
  • Additionally, if outside funding is obtained for the specific purpose of purchasing computing equipment, any device purchased by these means will not be supported by the Fine Arts IT department in the same capacity as those which have been purchased by the College.
  • Fine Arts supported devices will be replaced in accordance with a hardware lifecycle of approximately 4 years or older; replacement schedule of any device is subject to evaluation by head of Fine Arts IT, and lifecycle policy is subject to change at any time.

5.  What is the inventory policy for computers purchased with CFA or UK funds?

  • All computers, laptops, and tablets purchased by Fine Arts are required to have the Cisco Meraki inventory/reporting client installed at all times.  This software will be pre-loaded when you receive your Fine Arts computer; no individual action is required.
  • If your laptop has a UK barcode sticker, it must be brought to the Fine Arts or Bolivar buildings to be scanned by a Fine Arts staff member, once per calendar year, usually in the first week of November.
  • At the device's end of life, you must return it to the Fine Arts IT department for proper surplus procedures, in accordance with the policies of the UK treasurer's office.

6.  What is the policy if a CFA purchased device is lost or stolen?

  • If a device is lost or stolen, you must report this to your supervisor or departmental director/chair via email at the time of the event.  If the device was stolen, you must also file a police report and provide a copy to the Fine Arts IT department to keep on file.
